Biography
Olga VIRNYK
PhD in Philology, translator, poet, writer.
In May 2012, received a master's degree with honors from the Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, specializing in Language and Literature (Turkish and English) and Translation. While studying at the university, was the head of the group and took an active part in the cultural life of the Department of Turkology, in cultural and literary projects of the Institute of Philology (publication of own poems and translations in the Student Literary Almanac SVI-Y-TANOK, etc.)
In 2017, presented for students my first textbook ‘Turkish language: texts and tasks for the development of oral speech’.
In 2020, defended PhD thesis («Functioning of ethnocultural vocabulary in Turkish poetry of the twentieth century». Qualifying scientific work).
In the spring of 2022, published a collection of poetic translations (The Magic Fairy: Anatolian Legends in the Retellings of Turkish Poets).
2014 – 2024 – Teaching Assistant of Turkology Department of Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
I continue my work on literary translation of poems of Turkish poets of the XXth century into Ukrainian, translation of poems of Ukrainian poets into Turkish, as well as on scientific publications, a collection of my own poems, etc.
